4 Strategies for Marketing Mix Analysis in Assignments

4 Strategies I Used to Apply the Marketing Mix Analysis in My Assignment

Has it ever happened to you that you opened your assignment and immediately felt puzzled because you saw the words ‘marketing mix’ in your brief?

That’s what I went through when working on my assignments in the earlier semesters. Although the 4Ps weren’t difficult to understand, I had no clue how to turn them into a proper analysis. After hours of research and with a little help, I finally found the right strategies.

Here, I have explained 4 insightful strategies that helped me apply marketing mix analysis in my assignment.

Let’s get started!

1. I Studied the Customer before Diving into the 4Ps

One major problem I faced without even realising it was the order I kept using to work on my coursework.

Like many other students, I began with the 4Ps without realising that my main focus should be the customer. As a result, I ended up with several piles of useful sources instead of an actual analysis.

I contacted an academic agency for assignment writing help to understand exactly where I went wrong. Through expert support, I learned the correct approach to studying the audience. Here’s what I did:

  • I started to identify the company’s actual target audience.
  • Spending enough time researching the customer’s needs, purchasing behaviour, and habits helped me connect the customer expectations to the organisation marketing decisions.

As it worked for me, this approach can also help you present your judgement on whether the marketing decisions actually suit the company’s target audience.

2. I Prepared a Meaningful Analysis with the Help of Competitors

Did you know you can present a great, relevant analysis by comparing the competitors?

That’s what I discovered only after struggling to present an analysis. Instead of constantly studying the chosen company, I explored 3 to 4 competitors, compared their marketing strategies, and found information that helped me complete my assignments.

I focused on,

  • The product quality, packaging, variety, and standout features.
  • The average costs.
  • The similarities and differences in operating physical stores, websites, social platforms, and other channels.

Through this comparison, I identified points I might otherwise have missed. Moreover, it helped me make my academic writing more analytical, as I learned to compare, interpret, and explain why a strategy mattered to the corporation rather than simply describing it.

3. I Transformed Information into Stronger Arguments

Do you also believe that including hundreds of references can strengthen your assignment? I included multiple relevant sources in my assignment, but I still ended up with a weak analysis because I only repeated what the sources described.

You should keep in mind that research alone won’t make your academic work high-scoring. To fix this mistake in my work, I made it a habit to find answers to these questions before including any piece of information:

  • Why the source matters to my specific topic and work.
  • How it relates to the marketing strategy of my selected company.

Before using this approach in my assignments, I used to state that a brand uses Instagram as part of its marketing strategy. With this approach, I focused on identifying and explaining why this specific platform and type of content might be the most suitable strategy for connecting with the company’s target audience.

4. I Connected the 4Ps

Initially, I understood the 4Ps (Product, Price, Place and Promotion) as four separate concepts. However, it took me some time to realise that each of these can influence the others.

To understand this connection, I studied two brands.

  • The first brand launched a product and charged a premium price. It sold only through selective channels and kept the advertising focus on exclusivity. In that case, I realised all four elements supported the same positioning.
  • In contrast, a similar brand launched a premium product but sold it at a relatively low cost and used every possible discount channel. In this situation, the strategy would be less consistent.

Understanding this relationship helped me add more depth to my assignments.

Bringing it All Together

That brings you to the end of this post.

These strategies made the marketing mix less confusing, and I hope they help you as well. For me, the biggest change in my approach was to stop treating these as simple definitions and focus on analysing them.

As I did, you can also develop a better approach to applying marketing mix analysis in your assignments.

Good luck with writing high-scoring marketing coursework using the marketing mix analysis!
